Jo’s journey began in the theater department of Southwest Texas State University. After receiving her BFA, she headed for New York City to pursue a career in theater (click here to see Jo's old acting head shots). In the late 90s, Jo switched gears and began chasing her other passion…hair! She studied cutting and color technique with Devachan Salon, Redken, Wella and Rusk, and she's been a "Devachan Salon Certified Curl Care Consultant" since 2005. Jo has been commended on Naturally Curly, Yahoo and Google for her ability to achieve outstanding results for her clients. Her large and loyal client base extends beyond the New Haven area and reaches as far away as Boston and D.C.!

Jesse (aka "Fatschida" "Fajinny") received her professional training in Schweinfurt, Germany where she studied with the country's top instructors, colorists and stylists.

She’s gifted in all areas of hair artistry but particularly on the stylistic fringe; she’s got an uncanny ability to create hair sculptures that are interchangeable…conservative by day—edgy by night. Her European sensibility and insight into developing trends abroad has made her well-known as New Haven’s go-to girl for men and women looking for that continental flair. She’s also developed quite a reputation in the areas of color, color correction, and hair extensions. Jesse is certified from Devachan Salon.

Jane (aka "Kiwi") comes to us all the way from frickin' New Zealand! She’s studied at the Wellington Polytechnic School of Hairdressing in New Zealand, LIBS in New York City and Brio here in CT. She’s a multi-talented stylist with special abilities in hair color and make-up. From comic book model to stand-up comedian to Jo Bruno Hair stylist extraordinaire, Jane is a unique character…alright, she’s downright nutty! And of course, she's a Devachan-certified Curly Care Consultant.

She's back! Amanda originally, came to the salon as a client. As soon as Jo and Jesse heard she was entering the Paul Mitchell North Haven Academy, they decided, "We gotta have her!" After graduation, she left the salon to join the circus, but recently, after her marriage(s) to the Siamese twins dissolved (a sordid love triangle), she came back home! She's a tri-state girl: born in New York, raised in New Jersey, lives in Connecticut. A brilliant new talent with a sparkling personality, to boot. Welcome back!

Leah is the newest member of the Jo Bruno Hair Army. A graduate of the Academy DiCappelli School of Cosmetology in Wallingford, this Hamden native comes to us from some of the bigger, hipper salons in CT. And she's no stranger to the business aspect of things; her family owns and operates the legendary Whitney Donut & Sandwich Shop in Hamden (trust me, don't go there unless you're looking to gain weight).

Jessica is also from Germany....'nuff said?... She's keeps order in and around the salon. Not a stylist, but I'll bet she'd make a great one. Without her, nothing makes sense.

Lucy is another Paul Mitchell School alumna (they're cranking out the talent these days). A naturally curly girl herself, she loves working with curly hair. This is her first salon job as assistant, but she's on the fast track to being a great stylist. She says the Big Apple calls her name for somewhere down-the-line where she plans to work as a stylist while giving make-overs to the needy. (pic coming soon...)
