Jo’s journey began in the theater department of Southwest Texas State University. After receiving her BFA, she headed for New York City to pursue a career in theater (click here to see Jo's old acting head shots). In the late 90s, Jo switched gears and began chasing her other passion…hair! She studied cutting and color technique with Devachan Salon, Redken, Wella and Rusk and she's a Certified Curl Care Consultant (Devachan Salon certification). Jo has been commended on NaturallyCurly.com, Local.Yahoo.com, Maps.Google.com and MerchantCircle.com for her ability to achieve outstanding results for her clients. Jesse ("Fatschida" "Fajinny") received her professional training in Schweinfurt, Germany where she studied with the country's top instructors, colorists and stylists. She’s gifted in all areas of hair artistry, particularly on the stylistic fringe; she’s got an uncanny ability to create the kinds of hair sculptures that are interchangeable … conservative by the day—edgy by night. Her European sensibilities and special insight into developing trends abroad has made her well-known as New Haven’s go-to girl for men and women looking for that continental flair. She’s also developed quite a reputation in the areas of color, color correction and hair extensions. Jesse is also certified from Devachan Salon. Luvena (“The Day Maker”), described by the New Haven Independent as "an engergetic woman with green eyeshadow and fiercely coiled curls", our New Haven native was trained at the prestigious Aveda Institute in North Carolina and has worked in several of New Haven's hippest salons. She’s become known as the area’s “mixed chick” specialist...I mean, look at her! Her clientele is so dedicated and smitten with her, that we refer to them as "Disciples of Luvena" (just sit in her chair for a minute, and you'll know what we're talking about). A recent online reviewer said about Luvena, "She's super friendly and more fun to chat with than a shrink!" Curly cuts, up-dos and blow-outs are some of Luvena’s strongest areas. Jane (“Kiwi”) comes to us all the way from frickin' New Zealand ! She’s studied at the Wellington Polytechnic School of Hairdressing in New Zealand, LIBS in New York City and Brio here in CT. She’s a multi-talented stylist with special abilities in hair color and make-up. From comic book model to stand-up comedian to Jo Bruno Hair stylist extraordinaire, Jane is a unique character…alright, she’s downright nutty! Ashley's a native of Hamden, CT and a recent graduate of the Gibbs College of Fashion and Academy DiCappelli School of Cosmetology (she's got all kinds of degrees and certificates including a make-up artistry license...she's unofficially the most edu-ma-cated stylist in the country!)  Officially, she's Jo's assistant, but she's already got a loyal clientele who have followed her from her school days. We're really lucky she chose to work here at our salon; we're happy to have this promising new talent on-board!
